Cent anys des que es van extreure i vendre les primeres pintures del romànic català. El municipi del Castell de Mur, al Pallars Jussà, rememora la seva història amb el cicle Mur: cent anys de l’arrencament de les pintures, que començarà el pròxim 5 de maig, dia en què la canònica celebra el seu aplec anual. Entre els actes programats s’hi inclou una exposició fotogràfica amb imatges originals de les pintures romàniques de l’absis de Santa Maria de Mur i un seguit de jornades i visites tècniques que inclouran conferències sobre història de l’art, conservació, restauració i museografia de les pintures romàniques.

Un altre acte destacat del programa és el debat entre Manel Vilar, autor de Lluís Plandiura: el gran col·leccionista, i Martí Gironell, que parla de la sostracció de pintures a Castell de Mur a Strappo, sobre les relacions entre col·leccionistes i institucions en l’arrencament de pintures. A més a més, per promoure el territori a escala turística, periodistes i operadors estatunidencs assistiran a l’aplec.

Romànic català a Boston

L’estiu de 1919, Ignasi Pollak , un marxant d’art nord-americà va comprar el pantocràtor del segle XII que guarnia l’absisi de la canònica de Santa Maria de Mur al responsable de la parròquia. Per endur-se’l, Pollak va contractar a tres experts italians que la van arrencar mitjançant la tècnica de l’strappo, sent la primera vegada que es practicava a Catalunya. A més a més, per facilitar-ne el trasllat a Barcelona, van dividir la pintura en tres parts.

Malgrat l’oposició de figures com el president de la Mancomunitat, Puig i Cadafalch; el pintor Joan Vallhonrat; el museòleg Joaquim Folch i Torres; i el director de la secció d’Art Medieval i Modern de la Junta de Museus, Jaume Bofill, la manca de mecanismes legals per prevenir aquest tipus d’actuacions va permetre que l’obra es vengués i s’exportes. Actualment les pintures són, des de 1921, Museum of Fine Arts de Boston. Amb tot, a Santa Maria de Mur s’hi pot veure una còpia, per la qual va ser necessari pagar drets de reproducció.
