La vil·la romana de Can Ring de Besalú, declarada Bé Cultural d’Interès Nacional

El jaciment es va construir entre els segles II i I aC i compta amb una superfície descoberta de 2.200m2

El Govern ha declarat la vil·la romana de Can Ring de Besalú (Garrotxa) com a Bé Cultural d’Interès Nacional (BCIN) en el consell executiu d’aquest dimarts. El jaciment està al nord-oest del terme municipal de Besalú en un camp elevat a pocs metres de la urbanització Can Ring. La vil·la romana s’hauria construït entre els segles II i I aC i hauria entrat en desús a partir del segle IV dC. El jaciment compta amb una superfície de 2.200 m2 tot i que només una part s’ha excavat totalment. Es tracta d’una urbanització ben planificada i adaptada als desnivells que hi ha al terreny a la zona sud. El fet de declarar la vil·la com a BCIN implicarà que el Departament de Cultura hagi d’autoritzar necessàriament actuacions a la zona.

La vil·la romana de Can Ring de Besalú segueix un model regula i constructivament ben planificat. Inicialment la part urbana de la vil3la es va conformar a l’entorn d’un pati situat a la zona nors. Aquesta àrea quedava perfectament definida per un seguit d’edificacions a la part nord, oest i sud, mentre que l’est quedava lliure per una de les portes d’entrada del conjunt residencial.

 

Els treballs arqueològics han constatat que la zona de treball va ser parcialment ocupada al cap dels anys per construccions d’habitatge residencial, com ara un conjunt termal. Això fa pensar que es tractaria d’una vil·la de cronologia alta i que va ser fundada entre els segles II i I aC. Així ho decreten part de l’estructura principal, concretament les estances de l’ala sud, que daten d’un moment imprecís del segle I aC.

 

Ara es preveu que amb l’estudi d’aquest jaciment es pugui obtenir més informació sobre l’evolució del model d’explotació i ocupació del territori imposat per Roma a partir del segle I aC i fins als inicis del període baix imperial.

 

El fet que la vil·la sigui Bé Cultural d’Interès Nacional significa que el Departament de Cultura haurà d’autoritzar actuacions com ara anivellaments de finques i parcel·les i la plantada o arrencada d’arbres. També es necessitarà un permís per excavar en el terreny i qualsevol actuació que afecti el subsol. A més, es prohibiran els treballs agrícoles que impliquin remoure el terreny, encara que sigui de forma superficial, ja que hi ha restes arqueològiques en cotes altes.
