Comença la sembra d’arròs a les terres de l’Ebre

La Federació de Cooperatives Agràries de Catalunya (FCAC) informa que s’inicia la sembra d’arròs a les terres de l’Ebre, en concret a la banda esquerra del riu. Als camps de la banda dreta està previst que l’aigua hi entri també aquesta setmana. D’altra banda, enguany una part de la superfície s’està sembrant en sec –és a dir, sense inundar els camps- per evitar l’acció del cargol poma alhora que s’aconsegueixen altres beneficis per al cultiu i el medi ambient.

Jordi Marcel Matamoros, responsable d’arròs de la FCAC, explica que “enguany, la sembra s’ha endarrerit bastant en relació amb el que era tradicional perquè les pluges dels mesos de març i abril han impedit treballar el sòl i preparar el llit de sembra. No obstant això, aquest endarreriment de l’inici de la campanya no suposarà un problema perquè s’escullen varietats amb un cicle adaptat a la meteorologia”.

La inundació dels camps és el tret de sortida de la campanya d’arròs i l’inici de la sembra a la major part del Delta. Enguany, la previsió de sembra se situa en unes 21.000 hectàrees, de les quals 19.800 es troben al Delta de l’Ebre. Aquesta superfície d’arròs es manté estable a Catalunya, on majoritàriament es conreen les varietats tradicionals de gra rodó i semillarg -que ocupen més del 90% de la superfície global.

Les cooperatives Càmara Arrossera del Montsià (a la banda dreta del riu) i Arrossaires del Delta de l’Ebre (a la banda esquerra) representen el 72% del total d’arròs que es produeix a Catalunya.

En el conjunt de l’Estat espanyol, es preveu que el descens de hectàrees sembrades a comunitats autònomes com Andalusia i Extremadura pugui provocar una forta reducció en l’oferta d’arròs, després d’un 2021 en què ja es va donar una davallada.
