L’Ajuntament d’Alcanar crea un catàleg d’oliveres mil·lenàries per protegir-les de l’espoli. El ple del municipi ha aprovat per unanimitat el document, que inclou els set arbres mil·lenaris declarats com a bé d’interès local per la junta de govern i que també formen part de l’inventari de la Mancomunitat de la Taula del Sénia.

D’ara endavant, el consistori podrà incloure “d’ofici” una olivera a l’inventari i tècnics municipals, ciutadans particulars, associacions de veïns i institucions particulars i públiques ho podran sol·licitar. Pel que fa als d’arbres de titularitat privada, la petició només la podrà fer el propietari de la finca on està l’arbre o bé l’administració. En qualsevol dels casos, la incorporació d’un exemplar a la llista significa la prohibició de tallar-lo, arrancar-lo o danyar-lo.

En aquest sentit, l’Ajuntament d’Alcanar també vol reforçar la preservació del patrimoni natural del municipi i oferir línies de suport i assessorament tècnic i jurídic als propietaris. “Cal incentivar que els pagesos protegeixin aquests arbres monumentals”, ha defensat el regidor de Medi Ambient i Natural, Jordi Bort.
