Proven un vehicle autònom amb intel·ligència artificial en una via rural del Pallars

Primer pla del vehicle autònom que el conseller de Territori, Juli Fernàndez, ha presentat al Parc natural de l'Alt Pirineu, a Alt Àneu.

El tram de carretera que discorre entre Alòs d’Isil i el refugi del Fornet, al Pallars Sobirà, ha estat la via escollida per provar aquest dimecres un vehicle autònom. Es tracta d’una experiència “única” a Europa en una via rural i sense cobertura. El conseller de Territori, Juli Fernàndez, ha destacat que el projecte pretén donar solucions a la mobilitat en entorns rurals i adaptades a les necessitats de la seva població en condicions extremes (climàtiques, dispersió, orogràfiques o de cobertura de telefonia). El projecte, amb un cost de 2 milions d’euros, també té com a objectiu reduir l’impacte del vehicle privat en zones rurals i fer front als milers de cotxes que accedeixen diàriament zones turístiques.

Ha estat l’empresa Volkswagen la que ha cedit un eGolf per a les proves, equipat amb els sensors i la robòtica necessària. Territori ha finançat el projecte i la UAB l’ha executat.

 

Per poder fer la prova, durant mesos s’ha adaptat la via, d’uns 4,4 quilòmetres, amb un sistema tecnològic de guiatge basat en la intel·ligència artificial que, amb connexió ‘offline’, proporciona al vehicle informació en temps real sobre la localització, l’entorn o el clima. A partir de la prova pilot, el Departament estudiarà l’opció de desenvolupar un itinerari més complet dins del Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu amb un vehicle mini bus.

 

Els projectes d’aquestes característiques es porten a terme en grans ciutats o autopistes, amb tecnologia de comunicacions 5G i la transmissió d’un nombre elevat de dades des del núvol d’internet.

Aquesta és la primera experiència europea d’aquest tipus que es fa en vies rurals i sense cobertura, amb condicions extremes per la climatologia, l’absència de marques vials o el mal estat del ferm. A tall d’exemple, Antonio López, responsable tècnic del projecte del Centre de Visió per Computador de la UAB, ha explicat que durant la preparació del vehicle i la carretera per a la prova pilot s’han trobat amb entrebancs, tant rurals com el pas d’un ramat d’ovelles, vaques al mig de la carretera o cavalls.

 

La prova pilot s’ha fet al Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu, just a la zona de Bonabé, on un treball ha permès obtenir un valor de capacitat de càrrega turística total anual a aquesta zona, d’unes 109.985 visites, és a dir una mitjana de 9.165 visites al mes i 301 diàries. Els resultats alerten sobre la presència d’un excés de visitants durant els mesos de juliol i agost, amb 7.557 visites per sobre del que seria aconsellable durant el mes de juliol, i 20.433 visites el mes d’agost.

 

L’objectiu final és reduir la petjada de carboni i fer front al miler de vehicles privats, sobretot models tot terreny, que accedeixen diàriament al parc natural durant l’estiu, perjudicant la flora i la fauna local. Es tracta també de regular l’accés de visites i mantenir els ecosistemes.

 

Antonio López, ha afegit que desenvolupar el projecte en zones rurals el gratifica molt donat que podrà donar solució a gent que viu en pobles petits que moltes vegades no disposen de carnet de conduir o vehicle i necessiten desplaçar-se. El fet que s’hagi pensat en aquest sector de població suposa un factor important per a aquest tècnic de la UAB.

 

El conseller de Territori ha destacat d’aquesta prova pilot “única i líder a Europa” que es faci al món rural i en zones sense cobertura. Juli Fernàndez ha destacat que aquest projecte també dona resposta a l’emergència climàtica actual  i ha afegit que “respon a la protecció de l’entorn natural amb solucions autònomes, flexibles i respectuoses amb el medi ambient”.

La prova pilot es porta a terme amb un vehicle eGolf elèctic sensoritzat i robotitzat. El cotxe fa 2 metres d’ample i circula per una via amb trams que tenen una amplada de 2,7 metres. El punt de recàrrega està a la mateixa carretera, prop de la Casa de l’os bru dels Pirineus, al poble d’Isil.
