La Guàrdia Civil va intervenir dues línies d’hams de 500 metres cadascuna a la costa del municipi d’Alcanar (Montsià). Els agents van localitzar dues persones que estaven pescant amb la tècnica de “palangre de fons”, la qual s’usa per agafar els exemplars predominants del fons marí. Els pescadors van utilitzar una embarcació esportiva recreativa per fer aquesta pràctica i ho feien sense autorització. L’actuació policial va permetre evitar un dany a la flora i la fauna marítima de la zona i també la pesca indiscriminada d’altres espècies, fet que va contribuir a eradicar l’intrusisme professional que pateix el sector.
