Donen a conèixer grafits trobats al fort de Millet a la V Jornada d’Arqueologia i Patrimoni de la Guerra Civil

La V Jornada d'Arqueologia i Patrimoni de la guerra civil al front de l'Ebre s'ha celebrat aquest dissabte a Tortosa i ha aplegat arqueòlegs, historiadors i professors.

Un equip d’arqueòlegs ha descobert una vintena de grafits fets per milicians de la guerra civil espanyola al fort de Millet, al terme municipal de Caseres (Terra Alta). Es tracta d’inscripcions de noms propis, dates i de sigles de sindicats situades a les parets de formigó del fort, una obra del govern republicà d’uns 180 quilòmetres d’extensió que va quedar inacabada. Segons l’arqueòleg Pere Rams, la majoria de grafits es van fer durant els treballs de construcció del fort, que mai va arribar a tenir artilleria. La troballa s’ha donat a conèixer a Tortosa aquest dissabte al matí en el marc de la cinquena Jornada d’Arqueologia i Patrimoni de la Guerra Civil al front de l’Ebre, juntament amb altres actuacions històriques al territori.

Arqueòlegs, historiadors, professors i aficionats a la història s’han aplegat aquest dissabte al palau Oliver de Boteller de Tortosa en el marc de la cinquena jornada d’arqueologia i patrimoni de la guerra civil espanyola al front de l’Ebre. La trobada ha servit per posar en comú les conclusions de les actuacions arqueològiques del darrer any. Enguany, els grafits de la guerra civil espanyola han tingut un protagonisme especial. La primera de les intervencions de la jornada centrada en aquesta qüestió ha anat a càrrec de l’historiador, arqueòleg i professor Enrique Gil, qui ha destacat la importància d’aquestes pintades com a mètode d’expressió dels soldats de l’època.

Coincidint amb la Jornada d’Arqueologia i Patrimoni de la Guerra Civil al front de l’Ebre, els arqueòlegs Pere Rams i Josep Maria Pérez Suñé han parlat de l’última actuació al conjunt del fort de Millet, ubicat al terme municipal de Caseres. Es tracta d’un element de defensa que forma part de la línia de fortificació del Cinca, que anava des dels Ports de Tortosa-Beseit fins al Pirineu d’Osca.  És en aquest punt on s’han localitzat una vintena de grafits entre els anys 1936 i 1937, sent aquest un dels punts amb més inscripcions d’aquestes característiques. “Era habitual que els milicians que treballaven en la construcció del fort gravessin les sigles de sindicats, dates o fins i tot, els seus noms propis a les parets”, ha detallat Rams.

 

Segons l’arqueòleg, hi ha dos tipus de grafits identificats al llarg del fort de Millet. D’una banda, se n’han localitzat uns que van ser gravats quan el formigó encara era fresc i de l’altra, inscripcions rascades a la pedra que podrien ser obra de soldats internacionals. Tot i la construcció d’aquest element de defensa, el fort no va tenir mai peces d’artilleria com estava previst. L’obra, que va quedar inacabada, va ser encarregada pel govern català, però va xocar amb la negativa del govern estatal republicà, que prioritzava els esforços humans i econòmics al front de batalla i no pas en elements de defensa. En canvi, el fort sí que va ser escenari de combats durant la retirada republicana del front d’Aragó, concretament entre els dies 31 de març i 1 d’abril de 1938.

La divulgació centra la jornada d’arqueologia i patrimoni

La troballa al fort de Millet ha estat una de les actuacions que ha centrat la cinquena edició de la Jornada d’Arqueologia i Patrimoni de la guerra civil espanyola al front de l’Ebre. Al llarg del matí, el programa s’ha complementat amb cinc conferències més en què s’ha posat de manifest la feina feta en diversos conjunts arqueològics de les Terres de l’Ebre. Segons el president de Comebe, Baptista Forcadell, queda una “gran quantitat de vestigis” per descobrir i desapareguts per identificar de la Batalla de l’Ebre, una feina que espera que es materialitzi “en els pròxims anys”.

 

La jornada d’aquest dissabte s’ha celebrat després de l’aturada obligada de la pandèmia, que va paralitzar de forma momentània tant els treballs arqueològics com la seva divulgació. La delegada dels serveis territorials a les Terres de l’Ebre, Victòria Almuni, ha posat èmfasi en la recerca i les actuacions preventives al territori, les quals considera necessàries per obtenir un “bagatge important del territori”.
