L’empresa Liken Skis, del Berguedà, reconegut amb el Premi Nacional d’Artesania

Després de 15 anys treballant d’enginyer de projectes a Barcelona, el berguedà Oriol Baró va decidir fer de la seva passió per la muntanya i la neu la seva feina. Liken Skis, amb seu a la Pobla de Lillet (Berguedà), va néixer de “la inquietud” de tres amics que es van voler fabricar els seus propis esquís. El resultat va agradar a l’entorn, que els hi van començar a demanar. El 2018, Baró va fundar la marca Liken Skis. Fabrica esquís de fusta, d’alta qualitat, fets a mida per al client i de quilòmetre zero. Tres anys després, el negoci, que ha viscut més vida en pandèmia que sense, ha estat reconegut amb el Premi Nacional d’Artesania.

Oriol Baró va fabricar amb els seus amics Toni i Adrià els primers esquís el 2015. “No hi ha una formació reglada per aprendre l’ofici”, explica. Tots tres, enginyers, van aprofitar els seus coneixements i vídeos que van trobar a internet per a fabricar-los. El resultat va ser un èxit. “Van funcionar molt bé, els amics ens en demanaven”, recorda.

 

El 2018, després de fer un curs d’emprenedoria per veure si realment hi hauria mercat, va decidir llançar-se a la piscina. Va deixar la feina que tenia a Barcelona en una multinacional i va tornar a la Pobla de Lillet per fundar la marca. Tres anys després, Liken Skis ja ha fabricat prop de 150 esquís. La clau de l’èxit, explica el berguedà, és haver aconseguit “un producte d’alta qualitat, fruit del rigor diari i treballant per buscar l’excel·lència”. Pràcticament no ha fet difusió i ha estat el boca-orella i les xarxes socials el que li ha dut nous clients.

Entre quatre i sis setmanes de fabricació

Els esquís artesanals són més cars que els industrials. No obstant això, remarca Baró, “cal analitzar altres aspectes, com ara els valors, si volem que l’hagi fet una multinacional o una persona, de quilòmetre zero, amb tracte proper i de forma completament artesanal”. Afegeix que es tracta d’un producte “de qualitat, fet de fusta i que funciona de forma excel·lent”.

 

Els esquís de Liken Skis es fan sota comanda i a mida pel client. Això fa que el consumidor trigui entre quatre i sis setmanes a rebre’ls. Es cou a foc lent. “Un cop sé el model i la talla, començo el procés, que té diferents fases”, explica. “Primer de tot el laminatge: fas com una espècie de lasanya amb totes les capes, que després premses”, aprofundeix. “Després cal deixar-lo una setmana en repòs”.

 

Passat el temps els talla i els poleix. Hi grava la marca i els personalitza amb el que hagi demanat la persona. Un cop envernissat es dona estructura a la sola i s’esmolen els cantells. “Tot fet a mà”, recalca Baró, tot afegint que “cada resultat és únic”.

 

En la fabricació Baró no està sol. “Hi ha una xarxa d’amics i col·laboradors que m’ajuden”, explica. Fins i tot compta amb la complicitat d’una escola d’esquí, guies i professionals de l’esquí per fer les proves.

 

A hores d’ara fa fins a vuit models diferents entre esquís alpins, de muntanya, freeride i telemark.

 

Premi Nacional d’Artesania

La marca Liken Skis acaba de ser guardonada amb el Premi Nacional d’Artesania, atorgat per l’Estat en la categoria d’emprenedoria. Es tracta d’un reconeixement que distingeix actors rellevants de l’artesania estatal que amb la seva feina fan del sector un motor d’economia, ocupació i innovació. “Havia estat una gran alegria ser finalista, però ja guanyar…”, reconeix. L’única pega va ser que les restriccions per la covid-19 li van impedir anar acompanyat i no va poder compartir “l’alegria i l’emoció amb la resta de l’equip”.
