La DOP Siurana preveu un rècord de producció de 6,5 milions de quilos d’oli

La DOP Siurana preveu tancar la campanya de l’oliva amb 6,5 milions de quilos d’oli. És una xifra superior a la mitjana de la denominació d’origen, que se situa en els 5,5 milions de quilos d’aquest producte. Segons el Panell Oficial de Tasts d’Olis Verges d’Oliva de Catalunya, l’oli d’enguany és “molt rodó”. Això significa que és “molt equilibrat entre el dolç, l’amarg i picant” tal com ha assegurat la responsable de comunicació de la DOP Siurana, Montserrat Gelonch. Per seguir promocionant l’oli, l’organisme continua organitzant festes gastronòmiques al territori; és el cas de la 21a Fira de l’Oli Nou a la plaça Corsini de Tarragona, on s’espera recuperar el nivell de vendes de 2019 i superar els 35.000 litres d’oli venuts en dos dies.

La Fira de l’Oli Nou de Tarragona és l’única que no s’ha deixat de celebrar tot i la pandèmia i enguany celebra la seva vint-i-unena edició. L’any passat, a causa de les restriccions de mobilitat, es va optar per un format de mercat exclusiu per a la ciutadania tarragonina. En canvi, enguany s’ha pogut recuperar el programa d’activitats per a tots els públics. Gelonch ha afegit que la millora de la situació sanitària ha permès tornar a apostar per una festa gastronòmica on s’inclouen tastos, sortejos o tallers infantils. Durant aquest dissabte, a més, també s’ha programat un vermut solidari que destinarà tota la recaptació al Banc dels Aliments.

 

Tot i les previsions optimistes per la campanya de l’oliva per aquest any, Gelonch també ha alertat de les dificultats que emmarquen el relleu generacional al sector agrari. En aquest sentit, ha reivindicat la necessitat de millorar els preus per als productors per revertir l’atractiu de la pagesia entre el jovent.

 

Més entitats productores a la DOP Siurana

La DOP Siurana segueix creixent i actualment ja són 34 les entitats productores que s’emmarquen en aquest segell a les comarques del Priorat, la Ribera d’Ebre, el Baix Camp, l’Alt Camp, la Conca de Barberà, el Tarragonès i el Baix Penedès. Una de les últimes incorporacions és Terra Fruits, un projecte nascut aquest any i que depèn del grup Unió. Enguany també s’estrena a la Fira de l’Oli Nou, on s’ha donat a conèixer com una nova cooperativa al territori amb olis filtrats i sense filtrar. El cap de vendes de la cooperativa, Marc Romera, ha destacat que fires com la de Tarragona serveixen “per arribar al client final” i remarcar la importància de consumir un oli de qualitat per a la salut.
